Finally the Notes from the Last LLc

Our next meeting is Thursday March 15th in Tekoa.

Here are some note from our last LLC meeting which took place at Park Heights Baptist in Spokane in February.

We read "Direct Hit" by Paul Borden- it spurred a fair amount of discussion on vision and prayer. Many of us came away from the meeting talking about setting up prayer teams for our church.

We also discussed some upcoming mission opportunities- Gene is meeting with Ministers from the Yakima Valley Hispanic Ministries and is hoping to partner with churches in the LLC to do a VBS and Service Mission Trip to the Yakima Valley.
Champ discussed that he has been in contact with Danile Chetti, an American Baptist missionary to Lebanon.

Bill shared with us some books that have been helpful to his life and ministry:
Art of Pastoring
Loving the Church You Lead- by David hansen
Long Wandering Prayer
The River Why
Brothers K
Peace Like a River
-I didn't get the author information on all the titles- but if you are curious, I am sure Bill can direct you to them- hey he may even loan you a copy.

"The Next Christendom" by sociologist Philip Jenkins, is a book I mentioned that has a ton of research and statistics about Christian movements in the world and compared to other religions.

Someone wanted this website: www.songsonpowerpoint.com so there you go.

As always we prayed for each other. We also prayed through the facility of the Park Heights congregation. Thanks to Pastor Ray for hosting.

We are praying for vision for our churches, for Bill's house, for Norm's eye and for our shared ministry.

Radical Islam Movie

Hello from Post Falls!
As I talked about this movie abour radical Islam, our congregation saw it for the first time two weeks ago. They were stunned, and glad they had come and experienced first-hand what is actually happening out there. From the producer of 24, comes a documentary that pounds, for an hour, the urgency of the radical Islam issue. It was received so well, we will show it again... I think more people will come out and see this movie... and there will be more discussion as well.
What is my purpose? To understand the world we live in. We need to be missionaries in our city, our country, and the world. How do we pray? By first understanding the world we live in.
The news media does not accept the premise of the movie, nor the motivation of the radical Islam disciples. The media simply does not understand the dedication of a culture that will stop and nothing to serve its agenda. And now that agenda has turned world-wide.

For more information about the movie, and for information on how you can purchase the DVD, here is the internet address: www.obsessionthemovie.com

It will be worthwhile in thinking and discussing with your congregation, and others, on the next threat to the United States and the world.

On a different note, at our Congregational Meeting I began to introduce my vision. First, I began to say that we need a "higher profile." That means, to determine we will now go above the radar, and begin to show ourselves as followers of Christ. We are working on a new logo. Our logo is definitely 1975 all over... it needs a make-over. I gave it to those kids 20-29 to give me a mosaic logo that we can use everywhere. A logo they would be proud to show anywhere and everywhere. I also started to simply call us "Sunridge Church." The proper name is Sunridge Community Church, but I believe that, too, is 1980's. The people of today want something authentic and direct. We are, and we will begin to show them what Sunridge is all about. I also told them to read "Revolution" by George Barna. This book made such an impact on me, that I told them they needed to read this book, and that I would even buy them a personal copy if they were the least bit interested. I told them church is now Acts 2. And the "Revolution" is happening all around them... and I want us all to be a part of it! I told them I wanted to use their passion as well as their giftedness. I told them that we will not use people, but we will develop people. Person by person, I applauded what they have done in the church (in 30 sec. or less) and said they had been doing a fantastic job (which they have!) Then, I said, it is time to see WHAT ELSE God wants to do! I gave them a list of Millenial topics, from coaches to mentors to Spiritial Architects and People Projects to S.W.A.T. teams and the like. I told them this is what a church of 1,000 looks like. And that we are now going to begin, step by step, to fill the sheet out. I told them God has given me a green light, and that I would now be charting progress on this Revolutionary Vision. I told them that we will use the mosaic model. I told them we will only work in Ministry Teams - that we had depended on the individual to do things (as we are a small church), but now we will do things as teams. Since we are meeting in a warehouse, I told them that I had already looked at 3 possibilities of places where we could start our higher profile... we will see which one the Lord reveals is His will. I told them I loved them very much, and that the Lord is now taking us to exciting places within the Kingdom, that we are not "pushed aside" as a small church, but there are 20 million people that are alreay like us, and moving to make the Revolution (as told in George Barna's book).

What was their response?

"Pastor, let's go!"

I was humbled, honored, and meant every word of it.
For me, it is time to lead - wherever God leads - as He is beginning to give powerful insight and direction!

For example: How do people lead others to Christ if they have never done it before?
I found a tool I will begin to distribute for the people to use. If they don't know the words, Rick Warren can say it for them! Look on www.theinvitation.tv for a wonderful CD you can buy or even download off the internet - it has the gospel is a simple, clear format from Rick Warren himself. It is basic, and contemporary. Simply getting these CDs out there will make a world of difference! Again, I will show them the link, or even buy the CDs for them so they can show it to their friends. I have a few pagans I am going to try it out on! I will let you know how it goes - that's right, why not try it out on the people it was meant for?

Looking forward to seeing you at the LLC March meeting!

Sorry...

Hi Pastors,
Sorry I haven't gotten notes up from our last LLC meeting.
We had an unexpected death in our church. He was a very good man, a leader in our church.
So the schedule shifted quite a bit last week.
I hope to get the notes up before our next LLC- how's that for efficient?
Peace be with you,
Corey
